My Music

My first ever LP bought in 1970 at the tender age of 16. You can see the sticker in the top right hand corner that came with my LP Case. The band Colosseum were a Rock band but had a saxophone player so there was a little jazz rock crossover. The line up was Jon Hiseman-drums, Dave Clempson-guitars, Dave Greenslade-keyboards, Mark Clarke-bass, Dick Heckstall-Smith on Saxaphone and Chris Farlowe on vocals. This album is now a collector’s item but I’ve played it so many times on my parents old record player it’s pretty much unplayable.

Indian Summer were a Coventry band that I saw many times as a student. Very Prog Rock and excellent musicians. They used to play in pubs and clubs all round the City and were signed by the same management team as Black Sabbath. They only ever released this album and on the rare Neon label. They broke up shortly after. Now this album is rare and in immaculate condition and gets a play every now and again but only on my Pro-Ject turntable.

Now this is a very special addition to my collection! An original 1992 limited edition double album of Roger Water’s masterpiece, ‘Amused to Death’. Recorded on the Columbia label and pressed in Holland it was cut from the original analogue tapes and mixed in “Q-SOUND” which is like a quadrophonic effect and, when chanelled through a 5.1 surround system, it sounds superb with an expansive depth and a quality far in advance of what a vinyl record should sound like. It even came with a booklet and it’s still in it’s original shrinkwrap. These don’t come around often believe me!!
